It was dark, other than the orange sherbet scented candle on the vanity in the room, which emitted a quiet crackling sound. The others were asleep on the floor, on handmade little cots to sleep in, Mindy just casually curled up in the nearby armchair. Wes was the only one excluded, his mother, like usual, being too weary to allow him access to a simple sleepover.
Amber was still awake, her phone screen brightness lowered as she mindlessly scrolled through TikTok, making sure her volume was low enough as to not disturb anyone.
