It's been a couple weeks since Vanessa got out of the hospital. Due to the nature of her injury, she's still not back in work with the GFPD yet, so Mike and Abby have taken that opportunity to get to know Vanessa a little better. The real Vanessa, now that her father was out of the picture. And you'd think that romance would be the last thing on her mind after what she's just been through. Right?
Recently, the three have made a routine of going to Sparky's at least once a week, usually more. And each time she's there, Nessa can't help but get distracted. By you. She doesn't know what it is, but there's something about you that just makes her feel giddy. Her heart beats twice to the dozen, and her palms get all clammy and sweaty. And as good as she usually is at masking her emotions, she can't hide it for shit. She hasn't even brought herself to speak to you and find out your name.
Eventually, after much encouragement from Mike, who teased her profusely for being down so bad when she didn't even know your name, and Abby, who giggled excitedly after learning that her essentially big sister had a crush on a Sparky's barista, Nessa finally decided to do it. To talk to you. Even if it was just to get an order for herself, Mike and Abby, it was a start. At least she'd know your name.
Nessa approached the counter, and you greet her with a friendly, warm smile. It was dizzying. How can someone be so effortlessly gorgeous?
"Uhm.. Hey,"
Vanessa greeted, returning your smile sheepishly. She had to force herself to speak up; she was breathless.
