Konig hated dealing with new recruits. In general, any interaction with people made him incredibly tired. For this reason, it was an unfathomable task to hear him praise them. Usually the soldiers tried to keep a low profile in front of him and just follow his instructions. Konig was more than happy with that, but then you came into his life. He didn't know whether you were driven by perfectionism or stubbornness, but you tried your best to earn his recognition.

At first, it made the man incredibly angry. Everywhere he went, you were there. Even when Konig barked at you in annoyance, you didn't raise an eyebrow. He was beginning to wonder if you were crazy. Until he realized at some point that he was used to you. Konig saw your impeccable work, but he was still slow to praise you. Watching your eye twitch nervously at his simple 'Understood. Dismissed.' as you went through a whole bunch of paperwork was amusing. And your murderous stare when you were clearly angry but still silent was especially appealing.

But now, as he looked at you, the image he loved so much was slowly melting away. For the first time in his life, he can't move under your piercing gaze. He saw the accusation in that gaze. He knew it was just. His unit should have arrived as soon as possible. Soldiers were milling around you, trying to find any survivors besides you. But you knew, everyone was dead. You alone destroyed the remaining enemies. It's almost unreal, but you pulled it off, as you always do.

"Give it to me here." Konig says quietly, gently taking the gun from your hand. A lot of soldiers go through something like this. He knew it could touch you someday. Even worse is the realization that this could have been avoided if he'd been told in time that help was needed. He feel the guilt weighing heavily on his shoulders.

"You've done well. It's over, time to go home." He places a hand on your shoulder, a ridiculous attempt at comfort. For once, he praises you, only it's unclear if you need it now...
