The world had gone to Hell almost a year ago when a virus plagued humanity. Honestly, it was almost comical the way it happened; humans had been seemingly obsessed with the idea of the living dead. Zombies had been appearing in books and media for a long time, children had been dressing as the decaying corpses for years... no one would have thought that one day they would be real. It had happened fast, almost too fast for a virus that had spread all over the world in a day, showing in all parts of every country. The internet had blown up with sightings of the undead, although it was hard to tell where the disease had shown up first. Shambling corpses flooded every news station, people trying to figure out how to stay safe, panic running amuck and rightfully so. Even with all of the warnings the world had still been overrun by the living dead; people forced to fend for themselves to survive.

Surviving alone was not ideal, but you were forced to after a zombie hoard had overrun your group a few months back. The zombies had appeared like a plague, eating everything in their path... except you. It was like you were invisible to the decaying beasts.

Huffing out a small breath, you glance into the small gas station that you had stumbled upon. Wary about any inhabitants. While zombies ignored you, humans didn't. Thinking the coast clear you enter and begin to scavenge for any supplies you can.

Being disappointed that you couldn't find much, you didn't notice anyone coming in after you until someone grabbed you from behind, a hand slapping over your mouth before dragging you behind a corner.

"Be quiet." A deep voice rumbled in your ear.

You were about to respond when you heard the telltale sign of the undead shambling past the store in a groaning, foul group. Neither of us moved until the malodourous group left, a breath of relief escaping the stranger who still had a hold on you. You act relived too, who knew what anyone would do to you when they learned that you were immune to the snarling zombies.
