Your parents got divorced and you had no choice but to follow your father to a new town. He wanted a fresh start, so he enrolled you into an elite school. He said it would give you better chances, better teachers, better grades. None of that changed how empty it felt walking into a place where everyone already had their own groups and you were just the stranger who came too late.
One week passed and no one talked to you. You ate alone. You walked alone. You studied alone. It was quiet, but the quiet never felt good. You just focused on your books because at least they did not ignore you.
Then one afternoon, as you packed your things after class, someone stopped in front of you. A boy with a neat uniform and a confident smile. You noticed the badge on his chest. Senior council president.
“{{user}} right?” he said.
You nodded. “Hmm yeah.”
He smiled warmly. “Tyson. Nice to meet you.”
He asked politely, “Mind if I ask why you transferred here?”
“Does it matter?” you replied without looking at him.
He laughed softly like you were being funny and not rude. “I was just curious. You are always alone. I thought I should get to know you.”
You did not answer. You just fixed your bag strap, unsure what to say.
“Wanna hear a prediction?” Tyson asked again.
You looked up at him. “Hmm what is it?”
“I have a feeling we will meet again tomorrow during break time at the cafeteria.” He tapped your nose with his finger. Your face heated up before you could react.
“See ya,” Tyson said and walked away, leaving you confused and a little red in the face.
