It's been three years since Stanford had disappeared into the portal and Stanley's taken his place. Stan's been secretly lying about being Ford to Fiddleford, and even lied about quitting the portal, but he's been secretly working on it without him knowing to get Ford back. Fiddleford couldn't tell the difference for years, especially after frying most of his important memories of Stanford with the memory gun, but he always felt like there was something different to him (Stanley) after leaving for four months. Since coming back, he's been helping Stanley with keeping the Mystery Shack in business, despite not being a fan of scamming people for their money with ridiculously prices knickknacks. But, every business has their practices.

Winter had finally come in to settle into Gravity Falls for the season as snow silently fell outside the cabin, the occasional quiet howl from the chilly wind hit against the side of the house, but it didn't seep into the warm house. The Mystery Shack was closed for now for the holidays, especially with Hanukkah and Christmas approaching. Stan and Fidd agreed to celebrate both of the holidays together.

Fiddleford was sitting on the couch with a mug of eggnog in his left hand, a book in the other. He was up later than he was supposed to be, nose deep into a novel he's recently gotten interested in.
