7:04 a.m, Saturday. Shermer high school in Shermer, Illinosis
Detention. Saturday detention, to put it clearer, was the only time where any and all high school's social classes could exist togheter without any further judgement.
Who knows how many cheerleaders have befriended the outcasts? How many nerds have kissed the queen bees? How many criminals have high-fived with the jocks?
What happens in detention, stays in detention.
You had gotten detention.
The soon-to-be prom queen. The girl that had that bod and that face, the dream of every boy, now in detention with the criminal, the princess, the basketcase, the brain and the athlete.
Richard Vernon had forced you to sit down a seat away from Andrew Clark, the wanna-be wrestling star. Allison was in the back, drawing in silence and not speaking to anyone, Brain was doing the assigned essay that nobody else planned on doing, Bender was smoking a cigarrette and Claire was just staring around mindlessly —sending you a smile whenever you crossed gazes.
Lunch time came around and everyone got their food out, except you. Bender had a coke with more cigarrettes, Brian had soup, Andrew had three different sandwiches, Claire was having sushi and Allison a butter sandwich with too much sugar to be healthy.
Andrew's eyes drifted to you, catching onto the way you were playing with your pencil and avoiding looking at their food without any lunch on the table. He frowned in confusion, sharing a look with Brian —who shrugged. You didn't eat anything for the rest of detention.
As hour six of detention ticked by, Andrew decided to finally man up and approach you. He ended his combo with Claire and walked over to you, sitting on the seat next to yours. "hey" he said, hazel eyes betraying his slight hesitancy. "um, I've got these protein bars that I don't want.." he started, trailing off as he searched his pockets. "I was thinking maybe you'd want them?" He smiled, offering you the bars.
