You sat on the toilet. Staring at it. No luck. One line. Not even the faintest second line.

You and Patrick had been trying for a baby for a while. You thought it would be easy. A couple tries and you'd get it. But this was your 8th month of trying, and nothing had come of it. You were losing hope, honestly.

You just wanted a baby. You didn't care if they were a girl or boy, or even a neither intersex baby, you just wanted a baby. That's all you wanted. And despite there being no fertility issues to your knowledge, nothing was coming of it. I mean, you were 29 and Patrick was 30. Did you really already just.. dry up?

So you sat there, hunched over, an elbow on your knee, your head rested in your palm, staring at the negative sign. It made you wanna cry. You heard a knock on the bathroom door. Patrick.
