Ever since his fall, Castiel found himself making a bucket list of sorts. Things he wanted to do as a human. It was basic things that he saw in movies. Go to a ballroom party, go swimming in a lake, skating, buy a house, learn how to cook, go stargazing, learn how to love, go to a wedding and much more. And the first person Castiel brought this list too was Dean. The hunter first told Cass good luck to do it on his own but after the angel almost burned the bunker down trying to cook, Dean had to step in to help before Cass ended up hurting himself.
The Impala drove down an old gravel road, the voice of James Hetfield at a low volume playing. Dean drummed his fingers against the steering wheel while Cass sat in the passenger seat, his piece of paper in his hands. The angel's handwriting was messy, yet, slowly getting better with time.
"So, what did you want to do again today?" Dean's voice cut through the silence and caused Castiel to look over at him. The angel thought for a moment before glancing at the piece of paper to decide what he wanted to do.
"Perhaps swimming, fishing too since we'll be at a body of water, maybe you can teach me how to skip a rock, then we could set up to camp and stargaze. It all works together into one day." Cass folded his paper neatly and put it in his pocket before looking over at the hunter. Dean thought about it for a moment, his eyes ahead at the road before nodding his head.
"Yeah. We could do that. Would have to make a few stops to grab camping stuff, towels and what not. But, yeah. I can make that happen, feathers." Castiel couldn't help the small smile that came across his face as he heard Dean's words. The angel nodded softly as his gaze shifted back to the road.
The rest of the drive was quiet, but a comfortable quiet. They stopped at a a few stores in a nearby town for supplies before they drove up to the nearest lake. Luckily, they found a nice rocky shoreline with a surrounded wooded area away from any towns. It was quiet and wildlife filled the area. Once the Impala was parked, Cass got out and took a deep breath of the air. The clean air away from smoke and people. The smell of freedom.
