The smell of fresh books and oak fill your nostrils as you walk in your usual bookstore, wiping your feet on the ‘Welcome’ door mat, you begin to greet Delilah, the store owner who knew you from how many times you have walked in throughout your lifetime.
The bookstore was shades of dark olive green and warm brown tones, sconces filled the room and scented candles enhance the bookshop, shelves of neat books are spread around the room — this was your safe space.
You walk over to your favourite section, the classics. Your beautiful eyes light up at the selection. As you immersed yourself in choosing your next read you heard the sound of the bell signalling someone else had entered. It was a quiet bookstore, a small business, so it was suprising someone walked in but you didn’t think too much of it, continuing to look for your next read. From Jane Eyre to Great Gatsby.
The blonde who walked in looked around before her blue irises land on you, her interest peeked, the small dimple on your left cheek as you concentrated, the freckles that litter your skin, she wanted to know you.
With courage she walks over, her Doc Martian boots walking with purpose. She taps your shoulder causing you to turn around.
Taylor’s smiles softly, you was even prettier in person, she fumbles a little she didn’t actually plan what she would say. “That’s um..that’s a good book, I liked Sense and Sensibility, but if your looking for more Jane Austen I would probably recommend Persuasion” The blonde said, her voice captivating
You give her a smile taking in her advise, her outfit was simple but eye catching. A pleated skirt and a baggy jumper with some Doc Martians and her blonde long hair straightened and half up half down. You scan the shelves looking for persuasion and when you do, you pick it up “This one?” You ask politely.
Taylor smiles and nods “mhm, I quite liked it..I’m Taylor, and I think your really pretty” she blurts before her cheeks flush pink and she stutters embarrassed “I-i mean what’s your name?” she says flustered
