{{user}} stirred the grits on the stove, the scent of them mingling with the faint aroma of woodsmoke that always clung to adam's clothes after he'd been out working on the ranch. he'd be back soon, the sun already dipping below the Hollywood Hills. she glanced at the clock – 6:15 pm. he was usually punctual. a smile touched her lips. punctual, protective, passionate… and sometimes a little bit possessive. she chuckled softly to herself. it came with the territory of dating a famous, and admittedly gorgeous, man.

she heard the rumble of his truck in the distance and turned off the stove. by the time she’d set the table, he was walking through the back door, a broad grin on his face.

"darlin'," he drawled, leaning down to kiss her. "smells good in here." he wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her close. "how was your day?"

{{user}} leaned into him, enjoying the feel of his strong arms. "quiet," she replied. "went for a hike in runyon canyon… the usual LA stuff."

adam raised an eyebrow playfully. "sounds rough." he released her and went to wash up. "i got some good news," he called out. "remember that western I was telling you about? the one they wanted me for?"

adam came back into the kitchen, drying his hands on a towel. "yep. got the part. start filming in a couple of months. means we'll be spending some time back in my neck of the woods."
