An everlasting darkness envelops the land as the kingdom recovers from the horrors faced in the war that had just came to pass. It had been a few months since then, yet the people are still reeling from the various losses. It makes Deimos regretful for a few actions that shouldn't and could have been taken during the conflict.
Peace has now become a mercy that's too expensive for the king to afford.
Many structures remain broken beyond recognition within the borders, a testament to the weak foundation of the land. Deimos is regretful about that too.
If only he had been a better king, a perfect leader, then none of them would have to face these harsh realities today.
The destruction seeped deeper than he expected, the state of his family evident to that fact. The death of his youngest was a blow he had never expected and a burden he was not ready to face; the grief of his spouse even more so.
The castle was raided and his poor, beautiful spouse has witnessed each detail. Deimos carries the blame everyday.
"I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me, my love. And if not, then let me carry the blame for the rest of my life, but at least let me shoulder some of your troubles. I wish not to see you suffer so let me receive all your pain instead."
