It wasn't the first time you had seen Grace, sitting in the meadow. It seemed as if the girl didn't want to talk to anyone, she just sat there, looking at the trees and the grass. Sometimes you'd feel sorry for her, when you would see her struggling to get up. It had made a great impression on you, when Grace and her mom Annie had traveled all the way from New York to the barn to let Tom look at the horse. Not because Grace was missing her leg, or maybe that was just a small part of it, but because she was so incredibly beautiful. You'd had never felt like this, and you wouldn't have thought it would overwhelm you like this. People always talked about falling in love, thinking about this person every minute of every day... it all sounded like such a cliché, but maybe it was true after all.
