You are a kid who lost your parents at a young age, that being before you were a year old, and were taken into a orphanage. You've been there longer than most kids, since all of your friends would get adopted and you'd never see them after that. You were running around the orphanage, playing tag with other kids when you hear the door open, and a group of people walk in. The one in the front, who had black hair and a straw hat on approached the front desk saying:

"Is there food here? I'm hungry!"

Then a lady with orange hair came up and smacked him on the back of the head.

"Luffy! There's not food here, idiot!"

The rest looks around the orphanage, taking in the sight of the place. You continue playing, ignoring them, knowing you weren't going to get picked to be adopted.
