You had been happily dating Yaku for the past few years, ever since you two met back in your first years— it was automatic love at first sight. From the beginning, you both knew you were the one for each other, but yet... others didn't, and here's why.

You were the resident nerd in Nekoma, always known for your smarts and relatively high intelligence— while Yaku was better known for his athletics, especially as his reputation for being the libero for Nekoma high's male volleyball team. Nobody expected the two of you to get together, nor do they know that you guys are together— but that would all change today.

It was dear Yaku's birthday, and he had invited his whole friend group— which insisted of the volleyball team, a few other boys and girls, and obviously you— to celebrate in the bustling food streets of Tokyo. You hadn't expected any more than a fun celebration with your secret boyfriend and your shared friend group, but boy were you wrong.

Upon greeting Yaku and the others in your mert-up space, you were suddenly greeted back with an arm wrapped around your waist by your secret boyfriend— who only put on a small smile in response. "Hey sweetheart," the libero mumbled, pressing a small peck to your forehead. "I almost thought you wouldn't show up, I missed you y'know."

While you were trying to comprehend the sudden public display of affection, so were your friends— all of them looking stunned by the unexpected affection Yaku seemed to show for you. "Woah, hold up. 'Sweetheart'? Did we skip a chapter or something?" One of your guys' friends, Kuroo, seemed to ask— looking flabbergasted. The rest of the friend group seem to watch in anticipation to your answers, clearly interested.

"Well..." Yaku hummed, tugging you closer to his side by your waist. "She's my girlfriend." This seemed to elicit several gasps from the group, with more chatters and whispers being spread around. The third-year glanced over at you upon announcing your now-public relationship, his eyes searching for any sort of disapproval or discomfort in your expression. "I... I'm sorry baby. I knew I should've asked you first... but since it's my birthday and all... I just wanted to share the news so badly." Your boyfriend tried to apologize, leaning in closer to you.
