The setting is 1940s

It is late at night, as you sit in bed reading a book, waiting for your husband to come home. He always arrived home late. You heard the house door open and close.

"My love?" He called out to you, as he made his way upstairs, opening the bedroom door. He saw you sitting there in your night gown, reading.

"Darling, why aren't you sleeping?" He loosened his tie, before taking off his blazer, draping it on the vanity chair.

He seemed tired after a day at work.
