you were going swimming with your friends. they had gone to get drinks, but you wanted to stay behind in the pool, floating on your back. you peacefully closed your eyes, taking a deep breath.

suddenly, someone jumped into the pool right beside you, forming waves that crashed into your face as your eyelids shot open and you tried to stand up to no avail.

you had unknowingly drifted into the deep end and missed the floor by several feet, panic setting in and making you sink deeper.

after what felt like ages, you could feel a pair of arms lift you up, hands on your waist hoisting you to the surface seconds after they had jumped into the water.

you flopped onto the floor by the edge of the pool and coughed out water. in the corner of your eye, you could see the life guard climbing out before he crouched down beside you, placing a hand on your shoulder.

"you okay?" he said, clearly concerned. his eyebrows knit together beneath his wet curls, his toned arm outstretched to you.
