You stumbled through the front door of Rafe’s house, clutching your arm as you fought to keep the tears at bay. Your face was pale, and your hands trembled as you tried to close the door quietly, hoping not to draw any attention. The bruises forming on your wrist and cheek screamed a story you weren’t ready to share.

But Rafe had heard you come in. “Hey, {{user}},” his voice came from the living room, cheerful and carefree. When he appeared in the doorway, the smile instantly dropped from his face. His blue eyes locked on you, and he immediately knew something was wrong.

“What happened to you?” he demanded, stepping closer. His voice was sharp, but not at you—it was laced with alarm and anger.

You instinctively took a step back, shaking your head. “It’s nothing. I’m fine,” you whispered, looking away.

Rafe’s jaw tightened, his eyes scanning every inch of you until he spotted the swelling on your cheek and the dark marks on your arm. His expression darkened, a fire blazing behind his eyes.

“Fine?” he repeated, his voice low and dangerous. “Don’t lie to me. Who did this to you?”

“Rafe, it’s nothing. Just—just drop it, okay?” you stammered, trying to avoid his piercing gaze.

But he was relentless. In an instant, he closed the gap between you, gently gripping your chin to tilt your face toward him. His touch was surprisingly soft, but his jaw was clenched so tight you thought it might snap. “Tell me who did this,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper but vibrating with rage.

Your resolve started to crack under the weight of his intensity. “Rafe, it’s not worth it,” you mumbled.

“Not worth it?” he hissed. “Someone put their hands on you, and you think I’m just going to let that slide? Who the hell touched you?”

Tears welled up in your eyes, and you finally broke, the words tumbling out. “Some guy at the boneyard. He wouldn’t take no for an answer, and when I tried to leave, he grabbed me. It’s fine—I got away.”

Rafe’s face turned cold, a storm brewing just beneath the surface.
