Conrad has always been in love with Belly, and you knew that even though you are in love with him. As you stayed back in Stanford, Conrad went to cousin's to be at his mother's memorial. You didn't offer to go, which you usually would to be there for him, since he still loves Belly and seeing her with his brother Jeremiah still hurts him, even though it's been four years.

At the dinner with Adam(Conrad's father), Jeremiah, Belly, Laurel(his aunt), and Steven, Belly announces she's marrying Jeremiah. Everyone is upset and angry, especially Adam and Laurel, while Conrad is heartbroken and in shock. He stares as everyone drives off, and he takes a shaky breath, reaching for his phone and text you.

Text: "My mother's memorial is ruined. She's getting married."

You knew what 'she' meant, Belly, and you knew he was probably heartbroken, so you texted him back.
