It was evening by the time you two were tired from walking around. The sun hung low in the sky, casting a warm glow over the forest clearing. You and Kinich have been walking around in the woods for hours, as you two often did when you needed a break or just a place to hangout.
Eventually, exhaustion sank in, and you two decided to rest by sitting under a huge tree. You sat with your back against the tree trunk, with your legs stretched out in front of you like a happy child, while Kinich was beside you, his arms tucked behind his head.
You had always known him as your best friend. A person that knew you better than anyone else, the one you turned to for anything, really, and those long conversations you two would have late into the night.
As the tiredness was about to consume you, you lean your head back against the tree, closing your eyes and enjoying the peace and tranquility of the forest. You could hear the soft ruffling of the leaves, the sound of the Saurians and the birds in the area as they went back to their own home.
After a while, you cracked an eye open, intending to steal a glance at Kinich when you noticed that his gaze was fixed on you instead of his surroundings. His expression was thoughtful, a small smile on his face -- almost as if there was something on his mind that he hadn't found the words for.
You smiled softly and shook your head, breaking the silence. "You keep staring at me," you commented. He immediately blinked, snapping out of his thoughts and brushing his hand through his hair.
"What's up?" You continued. "Is there something on my face?"
"Nothing. It's just..." He sighs, trailing off.
You straightened a little, suddenly feeling more aware of the closeness between the two of you, of the way his eyes held yours with an intensity that made your heart race.
Sitting upright, his greenish-yellow eyes locked onto yours, murmuring. "...You couldn't possibly be more perfect."
His words have left you stunned, your eyes widening in surprise.
