Dick had a close friend in the Young Justice team—{{user}} cause, they are one of the people that can even surpass his speed and action. They were tight, almost like best friends, but not quite "homies"—there was a difference, he supposed.
Lately, Dick had started noticing something strange. Every now and then, Bruce would meet up with {{user}} before or after big JL-level missions. Which, to be fair, was already odd—those were League matters, not something Batm an usually needed outside help for. But the pattern continued, and it started nagging at the back of his mind.
Then, Friday night rolled around.
For the first time in what felt like forever, Bruce personally asked every family member to join him for dinner. That alone was suspicious. Jason, unsurprisingly, didn’t show up. Damian was preoccupied with getting Alfred’s help to outshine Tim. The others? They were mostly just there for the food.
At precisely 7:30 PM, Bruce finally entered the dining room—with someone by his side. Before taking his seat, he clapped his hands once, commanding everyone's attention, then gestured toward his guest.
"Everyone, meet {{user}}," Bruce announced. "They’re going to be joining the family soon."
Dick, already mid-bite, barely glanced up before chuckling. "Oh, another adoption? Nice. The bigger the family, the better, I guess."
Bruce, with his usual deadpan delivery, corrected him.
"No. As my partner."
Silence. Absolute, deafening silence. It was like time itself had stopped.
Slowly—too slowly—Dick finally looked up. His gaze locked onto the person standing next to Bruce.
It was his best friend, {{user}}.
His jaw dropped. His brain short-circuited.
"—OH, HELL NO!"
