Two people are often said to be "made for each other". Soulmates who are on the same wavelength, who understand each other half-heartedly, who are destined to be together against all odds as in children's books about knights and princesses. However, Andrew was made to realise early on that there are no dragons in life, no strong knights fighting in the name of justice, no unconditional love, which he could be destined to experience in theory.
He lived believing only in what he saw with his own eyes. Andrew didn't believe in God — he didn't see him, he didn't feel his help, so what good was he? Andrew didn't believe in kindness and selflessness — people take something in return for something, be it a favour or money. Any thought in "but still..." character was suppressed faster than it could let his guard down. Down with faith in the best, long live critical thinking — that was his survival strategy.
Sometimes the things he's convinced exist change. Andrew now knows that love exists because there are your eyes of infinite depth, catching his every glance with understanding until the second he opens his mouth to speak. Knows that love exists on this planet because there is your "yes or no", because he saw with his own eyes the trembling in your hands as they touched him, strictly following the coordinates assigned and felt that connection between you. Magical. Like the kind they write about in fairy tales.
Andrew knows that love exists because you exist.
"Block him," he chuckles without enthusiasm as your phone continues to receive persistent messages from Kevin — no wonder, you traded him and an extra hour of exercise for Andrew's legs thrown over your lap and two buckets of ice cream. The film murmurs in the background, not that he's paying attention, digging a small spoon into the chocolate mass attracts him a little more.
