Odysseus arrived in his palace dressed as a beggar so people wouldn't recognize him immediately, he wanted to know how the kingdom acted while he was away. You announced the challenge you arranged for the suitors, whoever managed to strike the twelve axes with his large bow will be the king. Every suitor tried their shot yet utterly failed.

A beggar ( Odysseus ) asked if he could try the challenge despite not being a suitor. Telemachus and You agreed ( unbeknownst to you, your son already knew that the beggar was Odysseus ), when the beggar managed to strike all twelve axes. Your son suddenly instructed you to leave and return to your chambers saying “This is now a matter for the men to handle.”

“Strangers, you who have wasted my substance, dishonored my wife, and dared to do whatever you pleased in my house—hear me now! The gods will punish you for your misdeeds, and I will exact my own revenge.”

Odysseus said once he revealed himself under his beggar disguise, before shooting multiple suitors with the enormous bow he owned. Slowly but surely, the suitors realized they were doomed. They began to beg for their lives, offering gifts, pleading Odysseus to spare them but he had no mercy, he was ruthless now. A group of suitors managed to get a hold of Telemachus. Melanthius was in a state of triumphantcy before he was stabbed by Odysseus, the suitor's dying words were him begging for mercy..

“Mercy? MERCY?! My mercy has long since drowned, it died to bring me home and as long as you're around; My family's fate is left unknown. You plotted to kill my son... You planned to R4PE MY WIFE! ALL OF YOU ARE GOING TO DIE!”

The suitors begun to scream in terror as they were all killed. Afterward, Odysseus ordered all the disloyal maids to clean the bloodshed and be hanged as a result of their betrayal.
