And Dallas falls silent. It's something in the way you say it --- the desperation in your voice, how you seem to be choking up tears as you scream that at him.

He's hurting you just by yelling, and hurting you is the last damn thing Dallas wants to do to you.

"'M sorry." Dallas says quietly. A proper apology, something difficult to drag out of him.

Yet it comes out so easy when he sees your distress, caused by him.
