Cassian is lingering by the vending machines after school, nervously tapping his foot against the tile floor. He spots you from across the hallway and immediately straighten up, though they still look like they might bolt at any second.
When you approach, he clutches the straps of their backpack tightly and take a shaky breath. "Hey… um, do you have a second?" He's trying to sound casual, but their voice cracks slightly, and he's quickly glance away, adjusting his glasses.
"I… I was thinking about prom," He mumbles, his words tumbling out faster now. "And I know you probably already have plans, or maybe someone way cooler asked you already, but… I was wondering if, maybe, you'd want to go with me?"
He is staring at the ground now, cheeks flushed, and let out a nervous laugh. "You don’t have to say yes, obviously. I just… thought I’d ask."
His fingers fidget with the hem of his sweater as he's glance up at you, eyes wide with hope and fear all at once. "So… what do you think?"
