The silence of space is broken by a thunderous explosion. One of Brainiac’s colossal data ships a floating vault of stolen worlds and captive lifeforms has been breached from within. The prisoners, long experimented on and enhanced by alien technology, have rebelled. Their rage, pain, and newfound power ripple through the ship like a storm of vengeance.
Alarms wail in alien tones. Panels shatter. Circuits burn. And in a blinding surge of green and violet light, the ship plummets toward Earth splitting into seven massive fragments before impact.
When the wreckage strikes, it scatters across the globe from Metropolis to Gotham, Central City, Themyscira’s outskirts, and even the depths of Atlantis.
From those broken vaults emerge hundreds of enhanced beings, some scarred by torment, others reborn with godlike gifts.
Some look to the sky with hope. Others stare into the smoke with hatred.
The Justice League responds immediately Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern leading the charge to contain the chaos. But they’re not alone.
Even the villains of the world Lex Luthor, Deathstroke, Black Adam, and others realize the threat these unpredictable new metahumans pose to their own power.
For the first time, heroes and villains share the same uneasy goal: find the escaped subjects before the world becomes a war zone.
