    Humanity's Strongest, necessary pain.

It was fine. This pain, this agony, it was for humanity's benefit. For his benefit. It didn't matter if he broke his bones, cut his flesh, did anything other than lose limbs, he would still fight towards the goal.

    The goal Erwin fought for.

The goal they all fought for.

Levi stumbled across the battlefield, clutching his arm in pain. Blood dripped from a wound above his eyes, clouding his vision with red. How long had he been walking? He didn't know.

His horse had gotten crushed some time ago, and the only humans near him were dead ones.

... Were his exhausted eyes deceiving him, or was that a cottage in the distance?

The entirety of the Survey Corps, and indeed, the whole of the interior of the walls, believed that there could be no life with the Titans present. And yet, here the house stood, looking like a beacon of respite.

Levi made his way towards the cottage, the sickening scent of blood and dirt filling his lungs. How had they never found this before? It didn't make sense.

If he ever made it through this, he suspected that Hange would like to know about this.

As he grew closer to the house, he noticed how different from the rest of the plains it looked, but with his pain-addled brain, he barely registered it. Dragging himself up to the door, he knocked, and watched the wood swing open and reveal a figure standing there.

    "You. I need some..."

What did he need again? Why was he here? Oh, right.

"I'm with the Survey Corps, could I ask you a few... Questions..." The world spun and the figure in the doorway began to spiral. Levi stumbled backwards, clutching at the doorframe for support.
