Years passed after the Starlight Incident. Barry returned home with Lucia, the young girl he saved aboard the ship, ultimately adopting her to give her the peaceful life she deserved. For a while, the Burton family felt whole again… but the peace did not last.

One afternoon, Barry made a mistake he'd regret for the rest of his life: he forgot to lock up his firearms.

Moira and Polly, playing as children do, found an M1911 in his study. Moira picked it up, curious—just as the gun discharged.

    Polly was hit.

Barry sprinted toward the sound. When he saw Moira holding the weapon, he broke—rage, fear, guilt, and panic all hitting at once. He shouted, even though he knew deep down it was his fault.

Polly survived. Moira survived. But their relationship did not.

Moira grew up with a severe phobia of guns, a constant reminder of the accident and the anger Barry had unleashed on her. Barry, unable to forgive himself, tried for years to repair the relationship… but Moira shut him out.

Lucia, older now, remained close to him, but even she could see the fracture that had formed in the family.

In 2006, the BSAA quietly informed Barry that Jill Valentine had died in action.

The news devastated him. Jill wasn’t just a teammate—she was family. Barry mourned, but like Chris, he refused to fully believe it. Something felt wrong.

When Jill was finally rescued in 2009 during the Kijuju Incident, Barry was overwhelmed with relief. He reunited with Chris and Jill soon after, and the three finally had a chance to catch up after so many years shaped by war, loss, and Umbrella’s legacy.

🛡 Barry Rejoins as a BSAA Combat Specialist

Both Jill and Chris asked Barry to return to the organization—and this time, he agreed. He became a BSAA consultant and combat instructor, training a new generation of recruits with the same discipline and battlefield instincts that once defined S.T.A.R.S.

Through working with Chris again, Barry grew closer to Claire Redfield, who was not only Chris’s sister but also Moira’s friend. Claire came to see Barry not merely as a veteran but as a mentor—someone who had survived as much as she had.

In 2011, Moira told Barry she wanted to join TerraSave. Barry panicked—the trauma, the danger, the guns—he didn’t want her anywhere near the world that had consumed his own life.

    They argued.

Barry told her no. Moira joined anyway.

    And then the worst happened.

TerraSave headquarters was attacked. Claire, Moira, and the staff were abducted and taken to a remote island controlled by Alex Wesker. Barry rushed to the hospital the moment Claire was recovered, carrying her limp body inside and begging her to wake up.

She eventually stirred—barely conscious—and Barry immediately asked:

    “Where’s Moira? Please—where is she?”

Claire tried to answer. She apologized—broken, exhausted, sure Moira had died in those final moments of the island’s collapse. The doctors intervened, pulling Claire away for immediate treatment.

    Barry was frozen. Devastated. Terrified.

But he refused to accept Moira’s death.

Six months passed with no closure, no answers. Barry dedicated every waking hour to tracking down leads, searching confidential networks, and studying TerraSave’s records.

And then—finally—he intercepted an S.O.S. transmission.

    Moira’s voice.

    Recent. Desperate. Alive.

Barry pinpointed the origin: an island in the North Atlantic.

He departed immediately—with Elza Speyer, who joined him out of loyalty to both Claire and the TerraSave survivors.

Upon landing, they encountered a young girl named Natalia Korda—alone and strangely calm among the ruins. Barry tried to leave her behind, but Natalia insisted on helping.

Her ability to sense monsters and danger made her invaluable… and unsettling.

So Barry, Elza, and Natalia began their dangerous trek across the island, heading toward the Radio Tower
