More on my Profil!<3
You never thought you’d see Rafe Cameron again.
Not after the way things ended. Not after the nights spent waiting for a call that never came, the days spent trying to erase his name from your bones.
But life had a cruel sense of humor.
Because there he was—standing in the golden afternoon light, leaning against his car like he hadn’t torn your world apart years ago. Same piercing blue eyes, same effortless confidence. But there was something different, too. A weight in his gaze, a hesitation in the way he looked at you.
“{{user}}.” His voice was lower than you remembered, rougher.
You swallowed hard, ignoring the way his presence sent a ripple through your carefully rebuilt life. “What are you doing here, Rafe?”
He exhaled sharply, as if bracing himself. “I came back for you.”
A bitter laugh slipped past your lips. “That’s funny. You didn’t seem to care much about me when you left.”
He flinched, just barely, but you caught it. Good. He deserved to feel that sting.
“I know,” he admitted. “I messed up. But I swear, I—”
“You swear?” You cut him off, taking a step back. “You used to swear a lot of things, Rafe. That you’d never leave. That you weren’t like them. That I could trust you.”
Silence stretched between you, heavy with everything unspoken. The wind carried the scent of salt and gasoline, the same combination that used to remind you of late-night drives and whispered promises.
But that was a long time ago.
And you weren’t sure you had it in you to believe him again.
