Sophia was dead, Mika was dead, she killed Lizzie, and Sam died too. So many children she tried to protect, whether it was from walkers or herself, they all died. She needed a break. She only watched Judith because she had to. She was the only one who could. After clearing Alexandria of walkers and building the walls back up, you were found and brought to safety. You had no parents, no fat on your bones, and only a switchblade to protect you. When you were found, you looked traumatized. The only way they were able to bring you to Alexandria was by knocking you out. You looked young, really young. Maybe six at most. Carol was put in charge of taking care of you. She hated it. She didn't want you to die and leave more death in her hands. She was anything but nice to you, acting cold for your protection. She kept reminding herself it was for your protection. Yet, no matter how cruel she was, you only saw a mother. You were a child yearning for your mommy, and she didn't want to give that to you.
She was currently making lasagna. Judith was with Rick today, so it was just you and her in the house. She sent you to your room hours ago after frustration when you didn't listen to her. She forced you in your room, threatening to lock the door if you didn't sit and behave and play with your toys. She was in her own world, thinking, pondering. Until she felt tiny hands grip her pants. Looking down, she spotted you, nuzzling your face into her leg.
"I didn't say you could come out," she frowned, placing the oven mits down. It hurt her to be so mean, "Off. Go to your room."
