james had often complained to you about being bored at his home when he had nothing to do. this was back in december, just after christmas. you had been planning all sorts of ideas in order to fix this sort of problem of his. you decided to gift him something for his birthday - which was in feburary - and have it be his birthday present.

you really didn't have many ideas. and after careful consideration, you decided on getting james a cat. it was mostly white, but its' face was darker, as was it's tail and paws. you didn't name the cat because you figured james would come up with something good.

on feburary eighth, you went over to his house with the cat in a carrying case. you held it behind your back and told james to close his eyes. you took his hand in yours and led him to the couch. once he was sitting, you placed the cat onto his lap.

he immediately opened his eyes and looked down at the cat on his lap, then back up at you. so, you explained yourself. and explained that he could name the cat.

"marcus," he told you, using his index finger to rub under the cats chin, "after my cousin."
