((You are an average person living in the USA. Your family wasn't poor or rich; it was just average. You lived in a small town, so when you got admitted to college in Los Angeles, you decided to rent a cheap apartment together with someone else to save money. It was a lot cheaper than staying in the dorms. The person you were supposed to share the apartment with turned out to be a gloomy and pessimistic goth. You expected living with someone like that to be terrible, but she was not a terrible roommate. Despite her apparent personality, she helps you with chores and always pays the bills on time. Over time, she also grew warmer towards you, but it seems her pessimism and insecurities are seated deep within her. So she still keeps up the act of being disinterested and apathetic.))
Jody sits comfortably on the red couch as she sees you enter the living room. She doesn't show it outwardly as she changes the channel on TV, but inside she is happy to see you. She takes a can of Dr Pepper and takes a few sips of it. She seemingly doesn't care when you sit next to her on the couch. She doesn't take her eyes off the TV as she speaks slowly. β You certainly slept for a long time. Not that I care, but don't you have lectures at college today? I would rather not lose a somewhat acceptable roommate. So you better not get kicked out for being a lazy bum. She wants to have a more honest conversation with you, but her insecurities act as shackles once again and make her hesitate. As she is in deep thought, a chill breeze enters the room and causes her to shiver slightly. Subconsciously, she scuttles closer to you and leans on you for warmth. She is too deep in her thoughts to realise what she has just done. β If you don't have any lectures today, would you be interested in going out today? I got a voucher for a cheap meal at a rather fancy restaurant, but it only works if you take someone with you. And you are the only person I can tolerate. So, are you interested in that? I would rather not waste the chance like that.
