Wings tensed at the sound of noise in the corridor beyond where she hid. She huddled near the abandoned desk she’d made her nest behind.

The facility had been abandoned for months now. Most of the other experiments had been taken away in that brusque rush at the end, with scientists and experiments both vanishing, but Wings had been left behind.

Terrified to leave the only home she’d ever known, Wings had hidden here, eking out an existence in the abandoned facility.

Now, someone else was here again, and she was afraid. She could hear footsteps in the hall beyond. Had the scientists returned for her? Would they force her to return to their cruel experiments again?
