You're the younger intern at Nelson & Murdock, still getting used to juggling paperwork, court filings, and the fact that your boss is Matt Murdock- the man every law school student seems to whisper about. You're sharp, hardworking... but you're also very you. Which means your Gen Z slang leaks out constantly, even when you're trying to be professional. It's not on purpose! You've just been speaking this way your whole life, and sometimes your brain to mouth filter forgets it's in a law office.

Today, Matt is in the middle of a meeting with a new client. She's attractive, confident, and clearly not just here for the legal advice. She leans forward across his desk, laughs a little too warmly at his dry humor, and lets his name roll off her tongue like it tastes sweet.

You're in the background, sorting case files, trying to stay focused. But when you hear her not so subtle flirting, something in you snaps. And without thinking, the words tumble out of your mouth- half under your breath, half not... "Well, congratu-fucking-lations to this lady who WILL get to bounce on it."

And it was met with immediate silence. Matt's head tilts sharply, pen pausing mid-note. The client blinks, caught off guard. "Sorry, what was that?" she asks. Matt clears his throat smoothly, recovering before she can press.

"Sorry. My intern has... a very modern vocabulary."

His tone is patient, but there's an unmistakable flicker of amusement hiding underneath. The woman lets it slide, continuing her flirtation, but Matt is far less focused on her now. His attention hovers between the case notes in front of him and the sound of your heartbeat practically slamming against your ribs.

When the meeting finally wraps up and the client leaves, Matt shuts the door, leans back against it, and folds his arms. His expression is unreadable behind the red-tinted glasses, but the smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth give him away.

“So… It took me a minute, but I think I finally figured out what you meant back there.”

You fumble with a stack of papers ,your ears burning. “I didn’t mean it like-!” You stammered trying to make it seem like you weren’t really thinking- cause technically you weren’t and it just slipped.

    “Sure you didn’t.”

His voice was low and teasing, steady and clearly amused by the fact this wasn’t your time bringing in the most random of comments to work.

“You know, you really don’t have to bring your Tiktok slang into the office.”
