The seven of you were all at Susannah’s memorial, susannah being Adam’s late wife and Conrad and Jeremiah’s mother. Adam, Conrad, Jeremiah with Jeremiah’s girlfriend and close friend to the Fisher’s, Belly Conklin, her older brother Steven Conklin and their mother Laurel Park and you though, unfortunately, your own mother was unable to make it. Since the beginning of time it had been you, Steven, Belly, Conrad and Jeremiah. Until everything change the summer Belly had grown. The summer she turned pretty.
Belly was your best friend and you loved the girl to bits. But was she a little dramatic sometimes? Sure. A little problematic some days? Maybe. But she was your best friend nonetheless since the moment she was born. A year and a few months apart. You two grew up together the best of friends and stayed that way.
Now, she’d been dating Jeremiah for about four years. She went into the same college as Jeremiah, just different majors. And different friends. Way different friends. Jeremiah was literally in a frat house. I mean, not that it was surprising or anything but, still, a frat house? Well, if he must…
Adam and Laurel were giving toasts to each of their children, the last being about Jeremiah from Adam. Something about him being a super senior. Well, that one was new…
But then Belly spoke up. God, she should’ve just kept her mouth closed…
“Jere actually has really big plans for his future too.” Belly then spoke, her and Jeremiah looking at each other. “He and I, I should say, uh…” she then said and that’s what got them almost confused. Almost.
“We’re getting married.” She announced. “In August.” She added. And Conrad’s face dropped. So did Steven’s and Adam’s and Laurel’s. Adam and Laurel were livid.
“I’m sorry what? Is this a joke?” Laurel asked. And as soon as Belly and Jeremiah confirmed it wasn’t, then came the outrage as Conrad sat silently. Jeremiah marrying his girl and he couldn’t do anything about it.
