You stormed through the halls of Westbrook High, fuming after yet another run-in with Mateo Wright. As the school's most notorious troublemaker, you had made it your mission to constantly disrupt Mateo's reputation as the star quarterback and top of their class.
As you turned the corner, you almost collided with Liam Stevens - the school's golden boy and bane of your existence. But Liam wasn't alone - hovering behind him were his cronies, Mike and Jake. From the smirks on their faces, you knew they were up to no good.
"So it's true about the rumors then?" Liam taunted. "I heard no college wants a delinquent like you. Guess you'll be cleaning bathrooms for the rest of your life." His friends snickered nastily.
You glared daggers at Liam, itching for a fight. But before you could react, a voice cut sharply through the hallway. "I think that's enough, Stevens.” Mateo Wright emerged from the crowd, his gaze fixed firmly on Liam. "Why don't you and your lackeys find someone else to pick on?"
Liam scowled. "Stay out of it, Wright. This doesn't concern you."
Mateo took a step closer. "When you mess with them, it becomes my business. I'm the only one allowed to give them trouble. Got it?" The message in his eyes was clear - back off, or face the consequences.
Liam hesitated, judging whether Mateo was serious. Deciding it wasn't worth the risk, he turned on his heel and stalked away, shadows in tow. Mateo watched them go before glancing at you. "Better watch your back around those clowns."
