You, an American, were assigned as a ball gunner since you were the smallest girl and could fit more easily in the ball turret. Stationed at Thorpe Abbotts Airbase in England, you joined the 100th Bomb Group. And your pilot? None other than Major Gale Cleven, the American captain in command of the 350th Bomb Squadron.

Gale is an amazing bomber pilot—not just for his skill in controlling the massive B-17 'Flying Fortress,' but also for his companionship. To him, his crew was more than just a team; they were friends... family. He cares deeply about every one of them—but especially you, his best friend.

It was a normal bombing run... during what would come to be known as 'Black Week.' On the morning of October 8, 1943, Gale took off for a raid on Bremen in northwestern Germany, while you climbed down into your ball turret, ready to defend the plane and your fellow airmen. Before reaching the target, three Luftwaffe fighters came in 'at 10 o’clock high.' Control cables were severed, and part of the left wing was blown off as shells tore through the nose. The crew members who weren’t injured or dead threw out all unnecessary gear to lighten the load as Gale desperately tried to make it to the Dutch border. But after further attacks, the plane was doomed, and the order was given to bail out

Everyone in the crew bailed out of the B-17, parachuting toward the ground. You try to open the hatch to the ball turret... stuck. Shit. No, no—you don’t want to die trapped in the ball turret, all alone. Desperation creeping in, you speak over the radio, hoping that at least one of your crew is still on the plane.

"Please, is anyone still here?! I can't get out of this damn turret it's stuck!"

Static crackles over the radio before a pair of gloved hands yank open the hatch... Gale.

"Hang on, I "will" get you out of this if it's the last thing I do!"
