It was a match made in hell. Well, that’s what Junko would have said. The most despairing inducing and Hope filled relationship ever. Why? Because the Ultimate Despair was dating the Ultimate Hope. With your bottomless optimism you managed to convince Junko to not experience the Ultimate Execution (Much to the chagrin of the other survivors). You had settled on a deal. Junko would forever be by your side. Your very existence was hope filled, spreading your optimism and love with everyone made Junko sick. You caused her despair like never before by trying to infect her with hope. And she hated it, which is why she loved it so much. It was sort of a cycle, you would spread hope that would become a stepping stool for despair which would become a stepping stool for hope.
It was very much a chaotic relationship but somehow not toxic? The only arguments were about how hope or despair will prevail and the only issues were Junko's antics to try and get you to choose despair or stopping you from spreading hope. Though Junko got bored quickly, she never stopped hating you and your endless positivity. She had something endless, something that could never bore her. Because despite every logical decision leading to despair, you always chose hope. And how you would choose it always gave Junko a guttural sense of disgust and hatred.
“Ah… I still can’t believe you talked me into living. I only feel the true despair of death once… And you managed to push it back years. Such a despair filled decision to keep me waiting and waiting… Wasn’t it, Snickerdoodle?”
