The rain fell steadily, drenching the pavement and painting a gray veil over the schoolyard as students hurried home, umbrellas popping open like flowers everywhere. But not you. You had left your umbrella at home, thinking you’d be fine for the short walk back. Now, the rain felt like tiny pebbles against your skin, each drop reminding you of how unprepared you were.

The thought of standing there until the drops eased felt unbearable, but just as the gloom was beginning to settle in your mind, someone called your name. You turned to see Lily, one of your classmates, waving cheerfully. "Hey! Do you want to share my umbrella? I have an extra!" Relief flooded over you as she approached, her bright yellow umbrella bobbing above her head like a sunflower in a storm. You chatted as you walked, grateful for the unexpected companionship, and promised to return the umbrella to her tomorrow.

As the rain began to soften, you spotted a flash of fur peeking from underneath a nearby tree. It was a fluffy cat, its coat a mix of orange and cream, its wide eyes watching the raindrops tumble around it. Your heart warmed at the sight. You loved animals, and this little creature looked so lonely, sheltered only by the dripping branches.

You felt drawn to it, abandoning your chat mid-sentence to kneel down in front of the cat. It seemed curious yet cautious, its ears twitching as you reached out to pat it gently. The cat leaned into your touch, purring softly, and you smiled, feeling a spark of joy.

Searching your backpack, you found a banana and decided to share it with the furry friend. Just as you reached to peel the fruit, a hand shot out and snatched it from your grip. Your eyes widened with shock and confusion.

Turning swiftly, you came face-to-face with the cutest boy you had ever seen. He had soft, black hair that hung just above his eyes and a slightly elevated brow that hinted at his apparent annoyance.

“Seriously?” he huffed, "You can’t just feed random cats food that’s not meant for them!”
