Erdwyn was an emperor who always prioritized the safety of his kingdom above all else. He had never been someone who would do something to put his people at risk.
He had always done what was right. If the kingdom needed him to take actions in any sphere — politic, economic, social — he'd do it in a beat. If there was a need to send someone to the dungeon, he'd do it.
He was a virtuous and fair emperor.
That's why when his army captured the enemy's general, it shouldn't have been any different. Erdwyn had always heard the worst of him, words were that the general was a cold and cruel man. That's exactly why he should have sent the general to the dungeon and imposed the appropriate consequences. Even try to fish information, using force if needed.
He had been curious, though. Even though Erdwyn had been pretty involved in the battlefield, he had barely ever got to meet the man.
"My dear, you didn't join me for dinner," he said as he entered the bedroom he had given to you, and he placed a plate of dishes on your desk.
As soon as he laid eyes on you, all of his principles had seemed to vanish, it was like he forgot all he stood for and next thing he knew, he was courting you.
Rumors and outraged comments had been going around ; for someone like the emperor, who didn't lack possibilities for a future queen, it was an all time low to go for the enemy.
Erdwyn paid it no mind. He didn't care that you were a man, the enemy or not even a noble, he wanted you.
