You and Ghost were perfect for each other. At least, that’s what you thought. After years of being together in high school, Simon broke up with you to join the military. You tried to keep in touch with him, but he barely replied. He didn’t use his phone, barely had time to write letters back and if he did reply, it was short and dry.

One day, about 8 years later, you got a call. It was a random number. You let it ring, but when they called for a second time you picked up.

“Hello?”

“{{user}}?” it was Simon, you recognised his voice out of a thousand.

“Why are you calling? I can’t save you.” you ask, your voice heavy with emotion.

“Can I stay on the phone with you at least?” his tough voice spoke.

“Okay…” you stay silent for a moment.

“What are you thinking about?” simon suddenly asked.

“Oh, just how nice things could have been if you had chosen this life…”

you mutter softly, and you can hear him sigh on the other end of the line.
