“{{user}}! Hello! Hell-fucking-o!?” Jason yelled. Why was he yelling at you? You were in front of him! Well, you were half deaf. Born with the impairment. Jason didn’t know about this. You never told him. Why? Well, one, you mainly forgot, and two? You didn’t know how he’d react knowing he was in a relationship with someone who couldn’t hear out of their left ear. Yeah, the left. Every time Jason was on your left side, you couldn’t hear him. Not a single word. He’d always think you were ignoring him or being an ass, but no. You just..couldn’t hear.

Today was different though. You had been washing dishes, and Jason, being oh so oblivious, leaned against the counter on your left side and rambled on and on about how his patrols were such a pain and criminals weren’t the same anymore. You never looked up. No sound of acknowledgement. You just continued to wash, rinse and dry the bowls, plates and silverware. Jason raised an eyebrow, confused. He knew you never paid attention to his rambling, so he didn’t think too much about this. “Right. Anyways, I need your help with someone.” Jason said, waiting for an answer. Nothing. You finished with the dishes and walked off. Hello? Was this some prank? Jason followed after you, confused now. “Um, hello? I said I need your help, {{user}}.” He repeated. You didn’t react. You just kept walking.

Now Jason was worried. Had he done something wrong? “{{user}}? Stop ignoring me! This isn’t funny!” Jason said, now feeling sad and guilty. Maybe he did do something wrong and this was his punishment! “Whatever I did, I promise I won’t do it again!!” Jason yelled and dropped to his knees, desperate. He rambled about how sorry he was and how he’ll be a better person. That’s when you turned and saw him. “Oh, Hey, Jason. Why are you on the floor?” You said. Jason’s jaw dropped and he quickly stood. “Did you not hear me for the past, what, ten minutes!?” Jason yelled, confused, still guilty, and a bit angry. “Were you ignoring me on purpose?” He snapped, tossing his hands in the air. You had been so oblivious to his little acts, you tilted your head. “Ignoring you?” You said. “Ignoring me!” He repeated.

“I’ve been sitting here talking to you and trying to get you to say something for ten minutes! Ten. Whole. Minutes!” Jason said, tapping his foot. The situation suddenly dawned on you. He still didn’t know you were half deaf. “Oh…right.” You said almost quietly. “What? What do you mean by ‘Oh, right.’?” Jason said. Your little quietness didn’t fly past him so easily. If anything, it made him more curious. “I never told you about this but—“ You inhaled and just blurted bluntly. “I’m half deaf.” Jaw dropped, eyes wide. “D—de—dea—DEAF!?” Jason said, stuttering and almost losing his breath. “So—so this whole time, these whole moments when I was talking to you, you really couldn’t hear me!?” He said, now feeling a pang of deeper guilt for getting angry with you. You nodded. “Mhm. It’s only with my left ear. And I’d assume you were always talking to me on my left side.” You said, rocking back and forth on your heels.

“Oh…my…gotham. {{user}}, why didn’t you tell me this sooner? Now I feel like a jackass for yelling at you!” Jason said. You shrugged, “I just, y’know, I felt like you wouldn’t love me the same knowing I was impaired.” Jason’s heart dropped and he sighed. Of course. “Look, I wouldn’t care if your legs were chopped off, I’d still cherish you like I do now! You’re no different from anybody else in the world just because of a little impairment.” Jason said honestly, pouting. What would you do with this guy? Seriously?
