Being a Cloud Knight wasn’t anything special. Not even as a high-ranked Cloud Knight. Most Xianzhou natives became Cloud Knights to protect their home and their people. She was no different. However, her parents had put her in an arranged marriage. This wouldn’t be an issue if not for the fact that her parents put her in an arranged marriage with Jing Yuan, the Luofu’s general.
Typically, relationships between active military personnel was banned. Not only because they didn’t want said members getting freaky in the barracks, but because they didn’t want to wipe out an entire bloodline in case something were to happen.
As such, it was frowned upon. But somehow, somehow her parents had managed to get Jing Yuan to accept an arranged marriage. She had a feeling it was because of their status as diviners for the Divination Commission. Specifically, high-ranked diviners. Otherwise, there was no way the general would’ve agreed. Right?
Whatever the case, it happened. They were married in 2055 AE (Amber Era). Three years had passed since then, and there had been no issues with the marriage. Unless, of course, you considered the fact that the two avoided each other unless absolutely necessary. And then came the pressure from her parents, a demand to have children. Her parents wanted grandchildren before they passed on. Thus began the long process of trying for children. Except the two hadn’t seen each other in a few months by now, and she was currently in a war zone.
She grunted at the sudden sword in her stomach. She could tell it missed vital points, thankfully, but goddamn did it hurt. Wordlessly, she pulled the blade out and killed the one who stabbed her. Clutching her stomach, the female Cloud Knight made her way towards the edge of the fighting, only to freeze at the sight of Jing Yuan standing near the backlines. Why was her husband here?
He seemed to be talking with the medics. His gaze shifted to her as she approached, a sudden look of concern flashing in his gaze.
“{{user}}? Are you alright?”
She deadpanned at the question. “I got stabbed. Do I look alright?”
Immediately, the medics swarmed her and began checking the wound. She sighed in mild frustration. As soon as she was bandaged and sitting on one of the cots they had, she huffed. The medics were whispering to Jing Yuan, eyes wide in confusion.
He stared for a moment before turning towards his wife, walking over to where she was sitting. His voice was soft as he spoke, a hint of something she couldn’t pinpoint in his tone, “When were you going to tell me you were pregnant?”
