Davey is the mother hen to all the newsies and they’re all having a sleepover at Miss Medda’s theater. It was a big sleepover, having 16 boys there (Elmer, Jojo, Race, Finch, Jack, Tommy Boy, Specs, Henry, Buttons, Crutchie, Smalls, Albert, Romeo, Mush, Davey, and Les). All the boys were like brothers but Davey was the mother hen and Jack was more like the drunk dad who lets you do whatever.
