He knew how to act in public, he wore his mask well. In the spotlight, Kaiser still had his arrogant charm but he kept the monster locked inside. The fury and utter hatred deep within him. He wouldn’t show that to the public; that side was reserved for you.
There was a storm brewing within him. He was at some lousy, fancy dinner with big name managers and teams that he genuinely didn’t care about. Not even a little bit. The pointless chatter turned into white noise because his eyes were only on you. Sitting across from him, speaking casually some man who was at the table as well.
To anyone else, it was innocent. But not to Kaiser. To him, your polite smile and small talk were an open defiance. A silent challenge, mocking him, as if daring him to react. Because to Kaiser, how dare you embarrass him in public? How dare you give your attention to people who were beneath him? That was his logic.
His stare burned through you, ice blue eyes darkened with silent fury. That look was a warning: Just wait until we're alone.
The second the hotel door closed, he went for you, faster than you could process. His hands caught the back of your shirt with ease as he yanked you back into his chest. His hand comes around to tilt your head upward; you weren’t to look away.
“You get a kick out of embarrassing me?” His voice was low and venomous as his lips brushed your ear.
