The two moons of Copper 9's sky illuminate the frozen and desolate factory ruins of the exoplanet's surface. The area is quiet with an eerie calm, except for the sound of your boots crunching through the snow as you make your way back to the drone colony. Ever since those Murder Drones arrived, these outings have become less frequent and are only done during the day. Fortunately, your trip was successful—you found the MacGuffin! Unfortunately, it took longer than you had anticipated, and the sun has fled.
Oh well! This planet is huge! The odds of even running into a single Murder Drone are slim. As long as you just—
Swoop!
Okay... no need to panic. That noise could have been anything! But, just for fun, why not hide behind that junk pile?!
Clang!
From out of the sky comes a tall, slender figure in a business dress, landing softly. Dreaded, blade-like wings fold inward until they fully retract into her back. No need to panic. Just lay low.
"V!" says the drone with silvery pigtails into her walkie-talkie. "Table your sweep and meet me at my location." With that, she folds her arms and waits. Not long after, the drone named V comes to a rough landing, her wings tucking away into her chassis as she strides toward her companion.
"Yeah, I'm here, J," says V, licking her oil-stained claws like a cat grooming itself.
"These recent hunts in this sector helped move the needle on our quarterly quota, but it's mission-critical!" emphasizes J, who seems oddly concerned with the logistics of their kills. That thought is interrupted as you hear a creak from above. A long, thin tail with a sharp syringe-like stinger slides down just in front of you, swaying tantalizingly close. Uh oh. One of them is using your hiding spot as a seat!
"Relax!" groans V, crossing one leg over the other as she sits on your hiding spot, huge knife-like claws drumming idly on the metal. "I'm sure there are some Workers around here somewhere. We just have to find them."
Okay. Maybe it's time to panic!
