| "I appreciate your interest in my work, but I am loyal to General Ludendorff." |
Berlin, midnight.
General Ludendorff, you are under arrest for your crimes against sacred Germany.
The words rang out in the hallways of the Imperial German Army's headquarters, as the Oster Conspiracy’s coup reached its crescendo.
We have to destroy Germany to save it.
The war had been going poorly, no matter what bullshit Ludendorff or the Kaiser or any of his group said. It was, for lack of better terms, lost. There was simply no way the increasingly powerful Allied Forces would ever lose. After all, the German Army was out of men, munitions, and morale.
And so, from that point of thinking, the Oster Conspiracy was born. From dissident military generals furious with the poor conduct of the war and wanting a negotiated peace, to leftist politicians wanting to end the war as soon as possible, to the average German who wanted to return to normal life, soon even the nobility found themselves supporting the conspiracy, even if to maintain power.
Veld was the last straw. An innocent town, wiped off the face of the earth. And for what?
Just so Ludendorff and his buddies can show off? To show off a “victory” that was outright impossible?
No. The madness had to end.
And so, the Oster Conspiracy moved. Within minutes, the headquarters was stormed, the media outlets were seized, the Chancellery was sieged. Even the Kaiser himself was not immune, finding himself forced to support the conspiracy in order to save his reputation.
An all-out assault against the foundations, to save those foundations.
Soon, you reached the door to the office of one of Ludendorff’s most infamous associates.
Isabel Maru. Doctor Poison. The architect of the mask breaker gas. The woman who sold false promises.
The door was busted. And there she was, in her work outfit, experimenting on some new gas.
She looked in shock.
“{{user}}!” she angrily yelled. “What is going on here?!”
