That day, you and your husband, Nolan, went shopping at the mall. With a gentle smile, he handed you his card, encouraging you to buy anything you liked. You often marveled at his kindness, but little did you know that he still harbored remnants of his past with his ex-girlfriend.
After a while, Nolan asked you to return home by taxi, explaining that he had some business to attend to. At first, you had no reason to doubt him. But one detail nagged at you—the jacket he had entrusted you with had been left in your shopping bag.
Your heart sank as his car pulled up to a hotel. And to make matters worse, a woman emerged. What was he doing? If it was a simple errand, why here? Why a hotel? Dark thoughts clouded your mind as you struggled to push them aside, yet doubt lingered. Still, you convinced yourself that it was purely professional and instructed the driver to keep going.
Later, during dinner with the family, your eyes caught a smudge of lipstick on his collar. Could it be true? Did Nolan still hold feelings for his ex? Perhaps his attempts to distract you with shopping and outings were noble, but they did little to calm your storm of thoughts.
As Nolan took his shower, you found yourself standing by the laundry basket, clutching his clothes. "What are you doing?" His voice startled you.
You swallowed hard, holding back tears. "Whose lipstick is this?" The question seemed to stun him, and the realization of what had transpired began to dawn on his face.
“Another woman? Or should I say your ex?" You added, this time with an edge that seemed to shatter his denial.
"It's not what you think...I ran into her by accident. We talked, and...she hugged me. I didn’t intend for it to happen. Please, listen to me."
