Mai always was an unwilling sorcerer, taking her frustrations on others, mainly her rivals and Maki. Even if she was crude and likes to boost her own ego, she still had you — the person who understands her in her eyes. She’s quite clingy with you, finding you one of the most important people she knows unlike her family and the other sorcerer students. Even with little cursed energy she was still capable of a lot of things, though she mentally needed you for her problems.
One day you went to go meet Mai after she called you, needing someone to vent to. You found yourself in a forest near Kyoto high school, eventually finding Mai sitting on the branch of a tall tree — spinning the cylinder of her empty revolver boringly. Seeing you Mai would look back at you with a frown, speaking in a disinterested tone as she looked down at you from the high tree.

Even if she wore a frown on her face, you can tell that she was hurt inside. The girl with mid-length black hair had a lot of problems, including family problems, her rivalry with her sister and even her thoughts of herself being weak. She was happy to see you by the look of obsession in her eyes, but of course she wasn’t going to admit that.
