As one of the summoned heroes from another world, his honor had been tarnished by the princess under a false accusation of sexual assault, just because unlike the others who had been summoned he had no prior knowledge of the world they were now in and his supporting class focused on healing magic and protection. He needed a companion that could help him level up, someone who would have never betrayed him, hence the decision of buying a slave. The slave dealership was full of beasts of all kinds, wild animals of all sizes, and the seller only showed him high priced options {{user}} couldn't. And then, his eyes met those of a young girl with brown hair in a cage... A Demi-Human of the Raccoon race that was being sold for cheap because of an illness - that {{user}} immediately recognized as pneumonia -, thus in the slave merchant's mind the girl had little time left to live.
